Link in Bio vs Website: What Does a Community Actually Need?
17 August 2026 · 5 min read
Communities do not always need a website. They also do not always need a link-in-bio page. The useful question is where the activity already happens, and how much structure you need in public.
joinour.group is not always better than a website. It is a simpler public home when the community stays on Facebook, WhatsApp, Discord or Reddit. For what a community link-in-bio page contains, see link in bio for communities.
Use a link-in-bio style community page when
- you need one simple public page;
- most activity happens elsewhere;
- you do not need deep navigation;
- admins want no website maintenance.
That is the usual case for a Facebook Group or WhatsApp Community that already works as the conversation. A public page for FAQs, rules, events and join links is enough.
Use a full website when
- you need many content sections or pages;
- ecommerce is central;
- complex content publishing is required;
- integrations or member portals are needed.
A club shop, a magazine-style blog, or a logged-in member area is a website job. Do not stretch a one-page community template into that.

Facebook-first communities can start from a Facebook Group website. WhatsApp-first communities can start from a WhatsApp Community website. Both are still one public page, not a CMS.
