Link in Bio for Discord Servers: What Should You Include?

17 August 2026 · 5 min read

A Discord invite is a door into a server. It is not an explanation of the server. New members still need the purpose, the channel map, the rules, and often a second destination — a website, a subreddit, or an events calendar.

A link in bio for a Discord server is that explanation, on a URL that does not expire when the invite does. The community-wide version of this idea is link in bio for communities.

Start with the invite — then explain the server

Put one primary join button on the page, labelled for Discord. Above or beside it, say what the server is for in two sentences. People arriving from YouTube, Reddit or Instagram should not have to guess whether this is a social hangout, a study group, or a game-night community.

Onboarding and channel expectations

Most first-week DMs to mods are channel questions: where to introduce yourself, where to post clips, where not to dump memes. A Start Here block plus a short FAQ covers that without turning #rules into a novel. Keep the server for conversation; keep the map on the public page.

Related resources, events and the rest of the community

Many Discord servers are not the whole community. There may be a website, a subreddit, social profiles, or IRL meetups. List them with context: “Discord for voice and channels; subreddit for longer threads; events on this calendar.”

Game nights, AMAs and watch parties belong in an events section so they do not depend on someone scrolling #announcements from last month.

Keep one public URL when invite URLs change

Discord invite links expire, get reset, or get replaced when you rotate vanity URLs. Update the join link on the page. The bio, server description and Reddit sidebar can keep pointing at the same public URL. That is the whole trick — not a new Discord feature, just a stable address around the server.

If you are choosing between a generic link-in-bio tool and a community page, the comparison lives on Linktree alternative. Discord is one of the platforms that page is built for.
